My logo also exists as a vector in all its forms. Yes, I am always making sure I have extras and backups. So SVG and AI are also in that folder. Better safe than sorry right?

Part 2

I got 1 wrong, but well, now I know better. It is NOT best to first register an enterprise´s name and then check if there is a domain available.

D&AD has a category for “New Blood Awards”, an award for students, graduates, and aspiring creatives. Real clients provide real briefs, and a panel of top creatives judges the entries. After you read the brief, choose your two favorite competitor submissions. Motivate your choice using what you have learned so far. Include visuals from the submissions.

I chose the brand I was familiar with, Duolingo. I have used it for Russian, Japanese, Spanish, and Esperanto… yeah, so it caught my eye. I downloaded the brief and then looked up the submissions from 2022: dandad.org

Brief:  Duolingo’s mission is to provide the best education and make it accessible to everyone for free, no matter who they are.

My favorite submissions were Duo´s Done and Chant a lingo. Why? Because it totally convinced me that their idea was doable and fun. I actually wanted to restart my Japanese and Russian thanks to their ideas.

Duo´s Done jumps straight into the annoyance people had with the owl´s notifications and made it into a selling point and a joke. Like “Oh, you thought Duo was annoying? Well here is his intern, he is much worse. Duo just wants to help.”

Duo´s Done is on-brand, funny, and reaches those who have given up on Duolingo. The touch points are perfect since it reminds people of the app they left behind or had forgotten.

The Chant a lingo is a bigger project but well within what can be perceived as believable. It keeps the Duolingo feel while looking new and fresh since it is a collaboration with another company. This means that it must have juggled the Brand Style of two companies at once!
