Digital Art: Progress

I have been drawing characters in a style that could fit into the movie My Little Pony: A New Generation, but also trying to just overall improve my skills. I won’t say that I am “Oh-my gosh so good!” but I have definitively improved. Here are two drawings that I turned into digital art and I will mention one person on Youtube that I watched before doing the second illustration.

As you can see, I improved the wings from the simple thin ones from the “Athena” Parthenos Pony Statue to a set of more realistic ones on the middle pony. Then I decided it was a little bit too detailed and simplified it to fewer feathers and a rounder shape.

The “socks” on the middle pony are cringe-worthy but that was one of my first real attempts at fading between two very different colors. It worked well with the dark red and tan color on the back of the same pony though. If you look at the eyes of the brown pegasus you can see a better blend between three shades of blue. So yeah, I learned I was using the wrong drawing tool. Oh, and as you can see on the brown pegasus I made use of transparency in elements, like the mane over the eye or the beard.

I also changed some things on the last design. I was heavily inspired by Honey Bee on Youtube as well as other speed-paint creators on the platform. Like FluffDragonArt. FluffDragonArt also uses Krita as a drawing program (that I also use for most non-school illustrations).

I have unfortunately not filmed myself drawing things for school or hobbies but I will try to change that others can see the struggle I deal with when having a shaky hand and an unresponsive or overresponsive mousepad.
