Customer Brief
A publisher would like to create a recipe booklet targeted at parents and young children. The book is called RECIPES FOR KIDS. The booklet will contain content that helps both parents and children create nutritious and creative meals. The booklets’ goal is to help develop children’s fine motor skills and create a friendly and interactive space for both the parent and child to get involved. The booklet should have a front and back cover, an introduction, content repository, recipes, and contact information.
Now, I am unfortunately behind on this task but I did my best with the time that I had. Daytime is dedicated to the Semester exam and night is now dedicated to this course assignment.
I made my own illustrations by thinking back at the child programs I have and still watch. You can also blame My Little Pony New Generation, on Netflix for some of my illustrations. Oh and WarpOut on Youtube with their “Lullaby for a Princess Animation” Those two were a serious inspiration.
Enough with the rambling though, I now have to design a booklet about cooking.
My main color scheme is purple and a warm yellow. I came up with this when drawing the introduction illustration. A donkey (yes it is a donkey) is often depicted as grey or brown and I have personally seen both in real life. I then decided that a warmer tone on the nice donkey would fit. Yellow and purple go together well so yeah.
If you exclude the front, back, and introduction then there were about 6 pages that were about cooking. So I needed design for each page. Drawings or artwork where the food is people… well not complealty. They will have humanoid things.

My animal inspiration came from various things. Movies. Games. Personal encounters, etc. I didn´t use all of it in my final product though. Like, I never used my shrimp idea.

I did some more work and made a moodboard based on child programs to get a better feel of how to appeal to children. However, I also had to make it easy to read. I got some of my illustration style from Peppa Pig and My Little Pony.

I finished after some hard work though. I managed to get this done on the 4th of February. I began to feel sick towards the end and guess what? I got Corona, so much of this was done while I was pumped up on coffee and sick from a virus. Hah, got more things done in 1 day than in weeks.
As you saw there were no photos in the booklet. That is because 1) No website would let me get a decent pic without paying or subscribing to their website and whatever. 2) I did not have the time to cook the foods to later take a picture of it. 3) I felt it would look good in the aesthetic to have illustrations instead. I am kinda regretting the avocado in the corner of the Chicken, Carrot & Avocado wrap, page now though.
