My Journey Here

One of my first tasks was to make a Moodle Profile, and this is mine.

I first started my journey when I was in junior high school where I could choose an elective. I, of course, loving being creative and working with my hands, chose Design and Redesign. It was a lot of hands-on work but I found out that design was just as fun, in some way, as just art. I began to feel split about what to study for high school and it boiled down to “Art, Design and Architecture” vs “Media and Communication”. My teacher thought “Art, Design and Architecture” was something for me but I eventually decided that I didn´t want my hobby to also become work and what I study, at least to not the degree it would be if I studied “Art, Design and Architecture”. So, I chose Media and Communication because I remember playing journalist one summer with “Sommerskolen” and their holiday activities.

When I began high school I had a lot of fun and frustration fighting Adobe Illustrator and InDesign with what I wanted, and what the program limitations were. It didn´t help that I forgot how to do a certain thing again and again. In the second year, we got to choose an elective and my teacher convinced me that Graphic Design was something I had to try out since I would fit right into the class of students sitting hunched over in the dark, working. He was right, so right in fact that I began the bad habit of never stopping, even if the clock has passed 03.00.

I wanted to continue studying after High School, so I chose to pursue Graphic Design. I first tried my luck at Universitetet i Sør-Øst Norge (USN). I was a few points short of being in the previous year’s average and thought I might make it. I didn´t though. So I then applied for the open studies and got into 3 different religious studies in about24 hours I think? However during the wait that night my mom must have gotten a Noroff ad because she showed me the Graphic Design study. The best about it? I could study from home. That was a dealbreaker. Some of my grades had improved when some of my high school classes had to be done from home so I knew I had to take this opportunity.

That is how I wound up here, publishing this 2 minutes before the deadline of the CA because I focused so much on the CA that I forgot to make my “Journey Here” post. What a great sign right? /s
